Where do you even start to look for wholesale connections in the Pokemon TCG world? I've watched Rudy's Alpha Investments for years now, because I play MTG and Pokemon, but it seems impossible to get direct wholesale access on either of these TCGs.
I only mention Rudy because he has a patreon that you can get reduced prices, but then I could never sell those items on Amazon.
It'll be extremely tough unless you have a physical storefront right now. Even then, you'd probably need to prove you're worth the distributor's time by taking their old stock they can't move (like Battle Styles) but most distributors don't even have leftover stock right now due to the Pokemon bull run. Allocations are also very limited.
There just simply isn't enough supply of Pokemon cards for the demand and anyone looking to make wholesale connections now is at the bottom of the food chain.
The good news is as toy investors it's kind of like LEGO. You don't need to purchase directly from LEGO or from a LEGO distributor to make good money in the niche.
It's also a bit different from LEGO though, where your buy cost isn't AS important as it is with LEGO because Pokemon ceilings are way higher. LEGO doesn't 10x, but Pokemon can.
You most likely don't want to be selling Pokemon on Amazon anyway, returns are way higher during bull runs from people who think everyone is a scalper and they have no problem doing fraud returns.
So buying from Alpha Investments as a long term hold and moving locally or on eBay is a good play.
Thank you for the detailed response! That's very true that Pokemon has much higher upside so paying more can be okay. Thanks for the insight, I appreciate it!
