Wow. What an absolutely electrifying way to end the week and kickstart Q4.
As of now, I have spent about $22,000 on LEGO from this massive sale at Target/Amazon. There are still some strong sets remaining, so I’ll keep steadily increasing that spend until everything I like is gone.
I hope you all have been watching the videos and not just reading the text in my LEGO analyses (text doesn’t translate as well as video when it comes to product analysis!).
Those who have been watching definitely understand how profitable this sale is going to be several months from now.
Don’t worry though, there is still plenty to come in terms of discounts, as we have a brand new Kohl’s sale that is now active, Walmart’s first phase of Black Friday on Monday, and of course other retailers will be trying to compete for our business at the same time.
Anyways, let’s chat a bit about what’s been going on this week and what’s to come.
Six new LEGO themes analyzed!
We’re almost done guys. I’ll knock out Speed Champions, Friends, and whatever else is left over the weekend or early next week. Then, it will be time for… well. I’ll announce that a bit later in this newsletter.
But if you haven’t had a chance yet, check out the new videos from the week here:
“How Do You Know When a Toy is Discontinued?”
An article requested by many readers was finally delivered to your inboxes this week. Full of tips and tricks on how to discover ‘clues’ about if a toy is discontinued or not. If you’re into buying toys, I’d say it’s a pretty essential read. There’s definitely some interesting ASINs in there that we take a look at that may inspire you.
An Update on my Inauthentic Claim…
If you saw the previous Weekly Wrap-Up, you’d have seen that I received an inauthentic complaint from a customer on a Marvel action figure I was selling. It was a big deal because in the request for invoices, Amazon did not state the invoices needed to be from within the last 365 days.
I submitted two invoices in a PDF — the first was older than 365 days, and the second was eleven months old. I also included screenshots of two pages worth of tracking numbers for the orders.
Seven days later, the appeal was accepted on the first try!
Although it doesn’t necessarily prove anything, it does give me reason to believe we don’t need to stress as much about old inventory as long as our supply chain is legit and verifiable.
Oh, and to make it even sweeter… the UPC on the invoices didn’t even match the listing. Oops. But we still did it!
Tip of the Week #2
There’s a pretty wild Shop Disney sale going on right now. Not only can you get 15-25% cash back with Top Cash Back or Rakuten, but you also get a free gift for spending $100 (add something from the gift category to your cart and use code GIFT), and you also get an additional 25% off $100 with code DISNEY25.
To be honest, this is the best deal on Disney merch I’ve seen since COVID. Unfortunately, the inventory they’re carrying right now isn’t phenomenal, but you may find some gems there worth holding.
But don’t worry, that’s not the only tip!
Did you know that items with a price ending in ‘.98’ on Shop Disney are slated to be discontinued?
Yes, that’s right. Disney gives us that information in their own secret little way.
The only thing to keep in mind is that to them, ‘discontinued’ can mean just for a year.
For example, most of their holiday stuff will be marked to .98 at the end of the season since it’s being discontinued for now. If it was a good seller, there’s a chance they bring it back the next year.
But at least you know you have plenty of time to sell through your supply before any sort of restock happens.
Go on friends, hunt some discontinued Disney!
What’s to Come…
Aside from all the exciting sales raining down on us, next week will also be what I think will be my most important video yet… my final 2024 LEGO overview! I plan to do an in-depth video re-visiting all of the themes and picking what I think will be my favorite sets to invest in as we close out the year. I’ll be talking about which sets I expect to invest the most into, the sets I’ve changed my mind on, and the sets that I think have improved since I last mentioned them.
I wish Target’s sale hadn’t started this week, because I would’ve loved to get this out before then. Unfortunately, this sale came out of left field.
But that’s ok! There will still be plenty to purchase and I’ll be talking about how I’m positioning myself the rest of the year for LEGO, and maybe even talk a bit about non-LEGO toys as well.
It’s likely to be a hefty video, so a regular article may not make it out next week. We’ll see how crazy it gets.
Lastly, a Potential Investment for your Consideration…
