I was going through old Amazon listings this weekend, digging through products I used to sell to see if any would have been worth holding longer than I did. Several ASINs made me want to vomit with how profitable they became — items like LEGO Creator Crocodile 31121 and Disney Descendants 3 Isle of The Lost Collection 4 Pack Dolls to name a couple. But one intellectual property kept popping up as an unexpected winner… “Turning Red”.

All of these SKUs were available to purchase in large quantities from several retailers a little over a year ago. And to sweeten the pot even more, most of them have been in this price range since several months ago. Yes, they are slow movers, but they do sell. Now we’re heading into peak season and all of them have ten sellers or less — a goldmine over the next two months for anyone still holding them.
It’s interesting. This movie was not played in theaters because it was released during COVID. It has decent reviews, but is often listed in the middle of the pack or in the lower-rated portion of Pixar movies on various sites. It didn’t have a Billboard charting hit song, nor did it have a new “hit” character for children to fall in love with.
So, why is “Turning Red” merch performing so well?
